Editing and publishing activities of the B.Verkin ILTPE of NASU developes better traditions of the publishing and scientific activities in Kharkov. deeply rooted in Kharkov. These go back to the beginning of the 19th century when in Kharkov the first in Ukraine university was founded in 1805 and pioneering publications were issued.
The subjects of publications of the B.Verkin ILTPE of NASU are associated with a wide range of high-level studies in the fields of mathematicsl and low-temperature physics physics and mathematics traditional for Kharkov.
Scientific literature published in the B.Verkin ILTPE of NASU:
Fizyka Nyzkykh Temperatur (FNT)( is published from 1975 )
Matematicheskaya Fizika. Analiz. Geometriya (MAG)( was published from 1994 )
Starting from July 2005 journal transformed into "Journal of Mathematical Physics, Analysis, Geometry".
In 1960, the Institute of Low Temperature Physics and Engineering (ILTPE) was organized in Kharkiv. By the initiative of its first director, B I. Verkin, several mathematics department were organized. Though several mathematical periodicals were already published in Kharkiv in 1960s, in particular, "Function theory, functional analysis and their applications" and "Ukrainian geometrical collection", it was decided to start publishing collections where the ILTPE researchers could publish their work. The first collection was published in 1969 under the title "Mathematical Physics and Functional Analysis''. Its editor-in-chief was Naum Illich Akhiezer. The collection contained articles by N.I. Akhiezer, V.Ya. Golodets, B.Ya Levin, A.D. Myshkis, I.V. Ostrovskii, L.I. Ronkin, F.S. Rofe-Beketov and others. The topics of the articles were very broad, covering all areas of mathematics that were cultivated in ILTPE except Geometry. Only five volumes were published under this title, all under the supervision of N. I Akhiezer. Participation was not limited to mathematicians from ILTPE. Some papers were authored by physicists, professors and graduate students of Kharkiv University and other mathematicians working in Ukraine. To comply with certain bureaucratic rules of the time, beginning from 1976 the volumes were published under different titles. Their editor-in-chief for all the years 1976-1992 was V.A. Marchenko. A total of 16 volumes were published, the last of which was published in 1992. After that, the role of these collections was taken over by the journal Mathematical Physics, Analysis and Geometry, which has been published since 1994.
