Biography:

In 1963 he graduated from the Radio Engineering faculty of Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute. Until 2000 he worked at B.Verkin Institute for Low Temperature Physics and Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine on positions of junior, senior and leading scientific researcher. In 1973 he received his PhD, and in 1988 he received his Dr.Sci. degree. Since 1990 he has lectured at the Physics Department of V.N.Karazin Kharkiv National University. Since 2001 he had headed the department of general physics at the V.N.Karazin Kharkiv National University. He lectured the courses: "Fundamentals of magnetic resonance", "Resonance in magnetically-ordered media", "Magnetism of low-dimensional systems and nanoscale materials". Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology (1991). Participated in the work of specialized academic councils: head of the specialized academic council D64.051.03 at the V.N.Karazin Kharkiv National University, a member of the specialized academic council D64.175.02 at the Institute for Low Temperature Physics and Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Research Activity: magnetism of low-dimensional systems, magnetic nanofilms and nano-dispersive materials, metal-organic magnetic systems.

Main scientific results:

  • Observation of magnetic resonance, multimagnon processes and dynamic effects in the energy spectrum of low-dimensional magnetic systems.
  • Description of magnetic properties (magnetic structure, magnetic field and temperature dependences of magnetization and heat capacity) of a series of rare earth compounds in a magnetic dipole-dipole approximation.
  • Determination of the basic states of magnetic ions in powdered samples of metal-organic compounds and the role of hydrogen bond in the formation of exchange interactions in these compounds.
  • Experimental establishment of the mechanisms of formation of magnetic anisotropy and peculiarities of the magnetoresonance properties of multilayer ferromagnetic/nonmagnetic metal film systems due to the influence of interface roughness and pseudomorphic distortions of layers.
